The Elevator Preservation Blog, started in May 2009, is a great blog for elevator historians and enthusiasts. This is from their About Us page:
"The Elevator Preservation Blog is a unique website that’s dedicated to sharing with you photographs, pictures and information relating to old elevator equipment. The authors who write here have a great passion for old elevators and a passion for preserving the interior looks and features to the time the building/elevator was first constructed."
It's a blog that is run by volunteers (they are always looking for more!) and they hope to provide information that will aid in the repair and preservation of these wonders of the past.
